Problem w/ my Raptor

I love this pedal, but something has gone wrong. Help!

I'm building a new pedal board (woodwork done, but still needs carpet - thread w/ pics to come) and I moved the pedals to the new board for tonight's band practice. I wasn't getting any sound, so I started unplugging pedals from the chain to locate the problem. Unplugged the Raptor's power cable (from a 1 Spot), and sound again. When the 1 Spot is plugged in there is no sound from the chain except a slight pulsating hum or buzz. Everything worked fine last week on my cheapo powered board. All the other pedals (H2O, Phase 90, Sweet Sparkle GFS compressor, tuner, and Cry Baby) work fine. What's up with that?

Sounds like the 9V power may be shorting to ground somewhere. If you try this with a battery, does the battery get hot? Don't try for too long!

I haven't had it apart yet, but I'll try it. It's strange that this happened.

Sometimes a little bump can cause something to appear that wasn't evident before. I shipped a pedal I built that was working flawlessly out to a few people to test and the shipping process exposed a solder connection that wasnt properly made. Sh!t happens as they say!

Yeah, it definitely sounds like power is being shorted to ground.

Is this a new problem, or has it ever worked on a power supply?

It's fixed!!! :banana::banana::banana:

I opened the case and noticed the contacts of the battery clip stuck out from the plastic about 1/16". They apparently were shorting against the bottom of the case. I wrapped it with tape and it worked!

The Raptor worked fine with the old cheapo board's power supply and all the other pedals worked fine with the 1 Spot. I knew it couldn't be anything serious.

I really missed the Raptor last night. I'm sure glad it worked.

That was my first thought. A public post before any private attempt to contact the builder is just tacky. :no:

Sorry about that. There was no intention to make RD seem irresponsible. I just needed help and thought this was the quickest way. I apologize.

No need to apologize, and I'm glad you got it fixed. You (or anyone) don't have to worry about posting pedal problems here. I take pride in my build quality and I have nothing to hide in that regard. I was only saying that e-mail is a quicker way to get a hold of me if you need help since I don't check the forum every day, especially on weekends.

I love the pedal, and couldn't be happier with it. The apology was in response to the post that posting here was "tacky". I was extremely busy yesterday and I hoped to find an answer in just a few minutes so I could use it last night. We moved the practice site to the other guitarists house and I forgot to take my amp's footswitch cable, so I couldn't even use the gain boost for leads. I really missed my Raptor!

I love me some Raptor! How are you guys using yours? I use the classic setting with the Gain rolled down to zero to boost clean passages that need more volume and a bit of musical grit. But that same setting in front of a high gain amp makes for a tighter and meaner tone :bigthumb:
