Problem with 6505+

Hello, my friend just bought a new Peavey 6505+ but after a few minutes of playing the gain channel became weak sounding and dropped a lot in volume. The clean channel sounds fine. What could cause this?

Swap the preamp tubes around and see what happens. 90% of problems with tube amps are tube-related.

+1 I've seen something like this a couple of times and they say to start with the preamp tube closest to the guitar input usually "V1". The gain stages are usually preamp tubes 1-2 or 1-3, then there are the preamp tubes for the phase inverter and reverb etc. Don't get me to start lying bro! I don't know this technical stuff.

On the 6505 it's reversed... V1 is farthest to the right, when looking at the back of the amp, IIRC.
