Problem with Crybaby 535q

Hi, guys. I found this website while troubleshooting for my Crybaby 535q. I see there have been several threads about them even though... I don't think "Crybaby" is owned by Seymour Duncan?

Anyway, I'm having some trouble - I can't get the "wah" effect itself to work at all. I just got the pedal today. I'm no expert with pedals and the like, but I followed the (extremely simplistic) instructions in the booklet. Plugged my guitar into the input jack, plugged the pedal into the amp etc. but no effect is produced. Now when the pedal is turned off, there's just static in the amp. When I turn the pedal on, the sounds my guitar is making do carry over to the amplifier. So the pedal is definitely "working". But after that, no matter how I configure the pedal (buttons/knobs), I cannot get it to actually... "make" the effect?

Now here's where it gets interesting. Some people I saw had issues where the volume knob would still work - even the volume doesn't work on mine. Literally no effect seems to be generated by this pedal.

I'd assume it's just because I'm not too familiar with amps/pedals/etc but I have used them before, this isn't my first pedal ever, and I personally can't think of (or find) any obvious solutions I'd be missing. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

How are you powering your wah pedal? Mains electricity transformer/distributor or internal 9v battery?

Not all of them are 18v. Mine is 9. But, if you're using a one spot and yours is 18v that may be the problem.

Try a new battery.

Also, no Crybaby isn't owned by SD. It's owned by Dunlop. However, this forum has probably tried every piece of gear that you can think of, so this is a great place for help.

You guys were right! It was the battery - well, sort of!

I'd even thought of the battery last night. I was using an adapter. And I saw that apparently Crybabys (Crybabies?) don't work with certain types of adapters. So I figured I'd try a 9V instead, and it still wasn't working. But see, I didn't think to unplug the adapter afterwards, which was somehow still affecting it. Today I tried again without the adapter and the pedal works perfectly. Thanks!!

No problem. I had a onespot on my board and my crybaby sounded terrible. Got a MXR DC brick and it worked perfectly.
