Problem with output for an Alnico II pro in the middle position of my Brian Moore i9

Hi everyone,
I have a Brian Moore i9 with a Alnico II pro in the neck, JB in the bridge and Alnico II pro single coil in the middle (all came stock). When going to the 3 position there's a huge volume drop. I have the middle pickup raised as high as it can go. It has such low output I'm wondering if it has a broken winding. How would I check to see if there's a problem? Thanks.

Steve

You're going from a fairly high powered humbucker to a low output s/c. Its fair to say these are a bad match.

However to check the pickup itself you need a multimeter set to 20K ohms, and the probes on that pickup's leads in the wiring cavity. For better accuracy, desolder them first.

Is the middle position all 3 pickups or just the middle one? Because if it's all 3 a volume drop is normal.

But Ye going from a high output humbucker to a vintage output single coil is a massive volume jump, I had alnico 2 singles in the middle and neck of a strat with a duncan distortion in the bridge which I ditched for a phat cat for better volume balance.
