Problem with SPB-3 on a Fender Jass Bass Special from'87...

Hi
I have a Fender Jazz Bass Special from '87...
As I already changed the original Neck pick-up by a STK-J2b , I also tried to changed the P-pickup in the neck position by a SPB-3...
Little problem... it doesn't fit!
Does anybody with the same bass tried to change the neck P-pickups? If yes, with which one?

By how much is the pickup cavity too tight? Does the SPB-3 cover butt against the body wood? Is the only obstruction the paint where it overhangs the edge of the pickup cavity?

As always, photographs would help.

I have an '84 JBS and swapped out the stock pickups with SD Hot for P & Hot Stack for J. Had no issues with the fit.
