ProCo Rat, What amp?

I heard the ProCo rat clips on the ProCo site all i have to say is wow :saeek:
, but now i have a problem what would be a good amp to run it into?, i want great cleans, distortion dont matter cause i will have the rat, preferably no more than a 2x12, under 700 canadian, all sugestions welcome....thanks

I used to run a rat through a 65 Fender deluxe and then a 62 twin. It sounded great. :smoker: :dance: :dance: :smoker:

hmm really, that might be a good idea, great cleans then add rat = :saeek:
would the cleaness of the fender take away from the bite of the rat ??, i cannot stress how much i love the rats tone :32:

I run my Rat into a 1969 Twin Reverb and it is my MAIN crunch tone...just pick any good tube amp with a decent clean tone and you're half way there!

Pretty Eyes I did myself in my bedroom with the Rat through the 62 Twin. Everything on was done on my 75 Les Paul when it had Dimarzio super distortions except for the solo on You which was done on a Charvel with active EMG's. Everything was done with the Rat thru a Fender. :smoker: :cool3:

The songs seem lame now but I wanted to give you an example of the sound.

Those were some wicked songs! I loved the vocals on "Bellami", it reminded me of Eric Bloom (Blue Oyster Cult), so cool!

I've gotta say the best rat tone i've heard was with a randall head thru a jcm cab

I think the best use of a Rat is by Jeff Beck and he uses one with his 50 watt Marshalls. I have a great Rat as far as Rat's go...one of the older big box models. But I've never been able to get my tone with a Ratt. I rarely use it. It's just to much smooth distortion and reminds me a little of a Big Muff. If I'm going to use an overdrive or distortion, the Boss DS-1 or Fulltone '69 or Ibanez TS-9 or TS-808 is more my style. Lew

thanks for all the suggestions people, 75LesPaul thanks for the clips, but i kno i probably wont be getting a twin or a plexi cause the $$$ are way to high but im not givin up yet still in search of a good tube 2x12/1x12 sooo hard to find one with a half decent price, by the way musical styles range from blues to metal i mostly play metal but lately i've been playin my own style, sorta different for me its like a crunchy not so high gain(6 to 7 pre gain ) metal
