Professional Ear Plugs

Hey, I was just wondering if any one could suggest some places where I can get my hands on some. I'm looking for the ones where you get a mold of your ear, the ones I have now are vater plugs and they just make every thing sound muddy and muffled

Look up local audiologists and see if they do fittings for Westone products. They'll make you custom fitted plugs with swappable -9 or -15db cut. They work excellent and a pair is under $200.

+1 on the audiologist. IMO it's the only place to get quality products and molds made perfectly.

Otherwise, etymotic products are really cool. While they do provide moldable earplugs for audiologists, their "generic" non-custom ones work wonderfully for musicians (they are musician's earplugs) and are dirt-cheap while providing the same attenuation across the spectrum as custom ones.
The only draw-back is the fit.

At that price I keep a few pairs around for shows, gigs, rehearsals, etc...

Re: Professional Ear Plugs

i went to an audiologist back in the early 90s. Well worth the cash. I think they did a flat -20db cut from memory. Great thing about your ear canals is that custom plugs will still fit as you get older.

My pops used them for a while, but he didn't like them after some time. Ended up getting a nice set of in ear monitors with some dB redux.
