PRS- Indonesia

Re: PRS- Indonesia

Made by Cor-Tek, aka Cort. In many ways their factory is more high tech than PRS.

Re: PRS- Indonesia

Indonesian made guitars are now on par with South Korean made ones. Took a few years, but they got there.

Re: PRS- Indonesia

I see some of the higher-end PRS SE's are Indonesian now. Same as LTD Deluxe nowadays.

I wonder if they really stack up to the Korean-made ones.

The fretwork and whatnot on my Indo Ibanez are up to par with my Korean Schecter and PRS. Given the vetting process PRS used when they went overseas in the first place, I have no doubt their new stuff holds up to the old.

Re: PRS- Indonesia

Admittedly, when I was looking at SE's back around the holidays, I came across notably more negative reviews for the models that had switched to Indonesian production. That was my sole reason for holding off on purchasing a new one, but that reasoning may not have been entirely warranted.

Similar to JB_From_Hell's experience, I have an early 2000's Ibanez RG7321 from Indonesia that rivals anything Korean and maybe even Japanese from that period from a build quality standpoint. Perfect balance, great fit and finish, immaculate fretwork, beautiful wood, etc. The only apparent cost saving was in the hardware and pickups, but the guitar itself simply couldn't be a better platform to start from.

In reality, I bet 99% of players could never tell an Indonesian-made from a Korean-made SE model. I just wonder where production will move to next as manufacturers seek ever less expensive labor and materials?

Re: PRS- Indonesia

I know with their Chinese made amps, PRS goes through all of them in America after they've been built in China to ensure quality standards, before they hit the North American market. I'm curious if they do the same with their foreign made guitars...

Re: PRS- Indonesia

My Epi Thunderbird is indonesian. No complain about the craftmanship.
This is not Honduras Mahogany but it is very well made.

Re: PRS- Indonesia

PRS doesn't 1/2 ass anything (even if I do hate most of their pickups, there are reasons behind everything). Every SE I've seen has been of very good quality. $/Value ratio is high IMO

Have to sort of disagree. My Zach Meyers was a dog, pups were bad, the nut was the worst I have seen yet. Cant understand why companies try to save 2 bux on a nut? But maybe mine was a fluke?

Re: PRS- Indonesia

But definitely more than 3 pieces of woods in he body of my SE. It is quite well done. And it is hard to count the actual number of a pieces of wood. But when you manage to do it, it is surprising.
