Just sharing if you don't already know. Anyone bought one/ received one for Xmas?

Re: PRS SE 2015: MII

Chappers reviewed them on Youtube a few weeks ago and seemed to like them. The prices are back down to what they were when the first run SE guitars came out a decade ago, if the quality holds out.

CNC routing machines do not care what country they are in. If materials and hardware are the same as before, the only issue can be the QA on assembly and finishing standards.

If, like me, you were going to change the pickups, controls and machineheads anyway, it should be possible to buy with confidence.

The biggest problem I found with Ibanez guitars when they moved their production there were sharp fret ends.

So, haggle for a discount then spend it on abrasives.

Interesting. I'm sure South Korea was expensive, with respect to Indonesia.

I've only had one guitar made in Indonesia, and it also had sharp fret ends.

The consensus is that it's so humid in Indonesia, that the wood can't help but absorb it, then you build a guitar out of the wood and ship it over here where it's much less humid, and the guitar shrinks.

Maybe PRS SE's strategy of "I don't know, dip the whole damn thing in polyurethane?" will pay off here :laugh2:

Re: PRS SE 2015: MII

I got one for Christmas and sent it back. The neck felt really good, no fret end issues. The finish was beautiful on a tobacco sunburst SE Custom 24. It sounded good with a lot of tonal options too. However, I couldn't get the action down to acceptable levels and the low E string ran out of room to intonate. It came like it was set up for serious slide work. The action was really high.

It might have been just the one I got that had problems. I hear many people are pretty happy with them though. I mail ordered mine. I don't have the luxury of having any quality music stores with inventory where I live so I couldn't check one out ahead of purchasing.
