Are the PRS Mcarty soapbars Duncans? If so, what kind?

They're made by Duncan but I don't know if there's a corresponding Duncan model.

They use a Custom for the neck, how does that translate?

They use the neck model of the Custom P90 in the Bridge Position.

Yeah that's what I meant to say. Any ideas why, less output for a mellower bridge piuckup?

Possibly ... I think could also be the folkes at PRS being meticulous

I think I remember someone over there saying in an interview that they were reluctant to use another mfr's pups but they went with the VR's in the Swamp Ash Sepcial since it was the only sound that htey felt was right ... something like that.


Of course this was so long ago and my mind has been failing me lately. Who knows

Well, one could argue the point that the custom neck is less hot than the custom bridge, thereby making it less dominating over the Vintage P-90 that PRS stocks in their neck position.

joe was right. Alnico 5 mags in teh vintage neck and ceramic mags in teh custom series. the less hot ceramic neck version balances better with the vintage neck.

one is rwrp. Just a slight bit of quack. MJ was kind enough to wind me a set for my PRS as PHat Cats.

I'm in the process of getting some of these. What do you mean by "quack?" Quack when RWRP or Quack if they are not RWRP? I don't think I want quack. Is that only when bridge & neck are used together (I expect)?
