PSA - jet city 20-watter head for $249

Re: PSA - jet city 20-watter head for $249

Freak sale maybe? I think I paid $279 for mine last fall from GC.

I have the 22H--hell of an amp. Marshall-ish crunch channel, SLO-style OD channel.

These blowout sales happen direct from Jet City a lot too. Don't think you can get a better tube amp for the money new or used. The closest competition is Bugera, Blackstar and Peavey and none of them are anywhere the build and sound quality of these little guys.

#(#&@#&@(*&@!!!!! Wish Id have caught this for 2fiddy bones...

Better off getting the "custom" version that is $100 less new (go figure).

I thought about buying one of those, but the "re-voiced by Martin Kidd for a distinctively British sound" thing concerned me. A large part of my motivation to buy a JCA22H was to have a Soldano / Recto tone; I had and have British more than adequately covered.

Fair enough.

I still don't understand the "custom" version that someone had to go in and modify by hand being cheaper than the stock version, weird price structure to me...

I don't either. Maybe they have too many on hand and are trying to clear excess inventory?

Re: PSA - jet city 20-watter head for $249

Someone had to build the original amp by hand too. The "custom" just adds like 3 switches.

Re: PSA - jet city 20-watter head for $249

It probably takes as long to at the switches and hand wiring as it does to stuff the whole PCB. Unless they have made a new board, would be interesting to see the inside of one.

Exactly my thoughts! Glad I snatched an older regular JCA22H with the 333 logo 2nd hand. :D
The only reason I can think of why they would let someone alter a Soldano design (blasphemy lol) is that brit voiced amps sell better at the moment?
The mod I would recommend highly is the 'choke' mod. Tightens up the bottom end. Next on my list is the 'scoop' mod to make it sound even more American.

Luckily it isn't an either / or proposition. Jet City is still selling the original 22H in addition to the Custom.
