Re: Pulled the trigger on a Mojo Hand FX Odessa
I was looking at dual overdrives and decided to give the Odessa a shot after glowing reviews of the two pedals that make it up. ( The Rook and The Magpie).
Magpie Side- This has a variety of great low to med gain settings. The 3 way toggle to select different clipping options is great. I've been using it in the down / overdrive position for a nice lower gain tone. UP position is the dirtiest / most compressed of the 3 settings. Middle position is nice clean boost. Great transparent drive.
Rook Side- Also has a very useful 3 way clipping toggle. Down is more "raw" sounding....found some great rhythm tones there. Middle position was cleaner and LOUDER, much more open. The Up position has the most compression and harmonics. Been using it for lead tones.
Tone Controls are excellent on this pedal, especially the Rook side. It's easy to dial in a classic mid TS type sound or take out the mid hump. I found getting the Odessa dialed in for different amps was a breeze. ( Played through a friends DLS40, a Deluxe Reverb, and my Egnater 15 Tweaker with 2x12 mojotone cab.)
I'm still exploring the stacked settings, but I'm impressed by what I hear so far. Overall, I'm seriously impressed with the Odessa. Great tones, variety of different options, build quality is excellent. I'm impressed with Mojo Hand Fx. Definitely a keeper.
