Pulled the trigger on my first tube amp

Thanks for the help in my previous thread! I decided to pull the trigger on a Marshall Jubilee 25/50w 2x12 combo I saw on ebay in very clean condition. I believe this will be able to give me the tones I'm after (primarily 80's hard rock/metal). She will ship on Monday and I should have her by Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll be sure to let you know how she sounds then. I can't wait to fire her up! I'll be selling my Vox 30w Valvetronix and PodXT Live, so I'm gonna be buying some pedals soon. Gonna keep it relatively simple for now - maybe a delay, chorus, wah, overdrive, and possibly a compressor (don't have much experience with those). If anyone has any recommendations for any of those, please let me know! Can't wait till next week!!!

with delay boss dd3 is good im thinking boss chorus go ebay ce2 ce3 work well for overdrive a lot of people say tubescreamer modded to vintage specs or a rat pedal and for compressor boss cs1 cs3 are decent but theres better im sure someone will come up with something here theyre starting points for stuff that works fairly well over and over but that may be my opinion

Great buy bud, wish I'd never sold my 1 x 12 combo... very cool and the crunch and drive is real nice IMO. Nice one.

The Jubilee is a great amp..... great choice. Now save a ittle more cash and pickup a 4 12" with vintage 30's. It's amazing how much better your tone will get when you hook it up to a 4 12". Good luck with it.

Re: Pulled the trigger on my first tube amp

welcome to the world of juicy tube overdrive! you'll never go back now. i dumped my pod xt after getting my zvex amp.

before buying any pedals maybe you should just see if you like the sound of guitar into amp with nothing else in the chain. just a thought. that's a heck of an amp you're getting.

Re: Pulled the trigger on my first tube amp

Your doing better than me on the first tuber.. I had a Sovtek Mig 60 (loved it to be honest).. After that I never looked back..

Compressor-wise, can't go wrong with either MXR dynacomp for simplicity or Boss CS-2 or 3 for more options (more than i need)

Thanks guys for the feedback! Keep any other suggestions coming!

Re: Pulled the trigger on my first tube amp

I have a Ibanez TS9 if you are interested.

If I was you I'd check out eric's offer. And if it's already modded to TS808 specs, all the better.

Congrats on your first tube amp! It's a whole different world than solid state....so much more powerful, at least IMO. My 22 watt Deluxe Reverb blows away my 60 watt Johnson JM60 solid-stater.

Nothing fills a room quite like tube power does.
