Punk, Pop-Punk fans....three songs off of my new album for your listening pleasure

Jake

5 Second Punkologist
My band, Kemo For Emo, is set to release our debut album soon, so here are three songs for you guys to sink into. If you like pop-punk (think the Descendents, older Green Day, Jawbreaker etc.), you may dig us.

Songs are in WMA format, sorry if your computer isn't compatible, I'll try and get them to mp3 format soon.

And I - Your simple pop-punk tune. Not our best, but a good introduction. Writen by Larry, our more pop song writer.

Don't Hesitate - One of my favorite songs on the record. It's a more serious song (ie not about a girl), written by Brian the bass player, the more rock song writer. I love the dual vocalists on this song (neither of which are me).

Aiming Steady - Another Brian song. About as punk as we get, I suppose. "Words to say!" is my only vocals you'll find of me on the record

Any/all comments and constructive criticism welcome.

Sounds fantastic Jake.

I like Aim Steady the most of the three but I would expect that any of them could get some serious play.

Good luck with it.

The instrumentals are pretty good. Really good, in fact, and the recording quality is very good. The vocals are done fine for what they are, and in this day and age, they could get you a recording contract. But I really don't like the vocals, at all. better than say, AFI or some crappy emo band like that, but it's just too high pitched. Makes it sound emo-ish, and for teenage girls (think Dashboard Confessional, All American Rejects, etc. - bands I couldn't care less about).

That said, you guys definitely have potential and talent. Just need good vocals, lyrics (which were pretty decent btw).

However, there is a market for bands like you, and so grab it by the balls and run with it! Obviously none of my criticism falls on you Jake.

Re: Punk, Pop-Punk fans....three songs off of my new album for your listening pleasur

I liked And I alot, like you said good, straightforward pop-punk. The solo seemed to go on a bit longer than i expected for this sort of song, but thats not really a bad thing, when pop punk bands squeeze 5 second solos in live they end before you realise its started, so i reckon that would work well live.

I like your drummer alot on don't hesistate, i bet those double vocals work well live, glad to see this one keeps up the pace of the first track, i imagine going straight from one track into the other would make for one hell of an energetic show. Impressive song. I like the repeated final line too.

This last song reminds me of screeching weasel for some reason, but a bit more polished. I like the verse going just to the bassline, gives you time to dance on stage for the ladies! Your bassist in general sounds good on this track, cuts through well, vocalist does a good job an all the tracks.

Good to hear pop-punk without the horrible emo tinged edge that it seems to go hand in hand with nowadays (although your singers voice style might have people expecting that from you), there were a tonne of good 90's pop punk bands and you reminded me of a fair few of them. If theres still people like me out there more of this is what we want, keep your humour strong and don't be tempted to go 'dark' and 'arty'. Great songs Jake, Sweet band, I'm jelous!

Oh, you made them better by the way.

Re: Punk, Pop-Punk fans....three songs off of my new album for your listening pleasur

Thanks for the comments guys. Though admittedly, there are some emo-sounding songs on there, but we kept that to a minimum. Funny thing is, the whole idea for "kemo for emo" is to be therapy for all the emo out there, and yet we're kinda guilty of doing the same thing ourselves.

If any of you guys are familiar with our older stuff, we re-did "Words To A Sad Song" and "Trembling" for the record.

Again, thanks for checking it out. The record will be out soon and will be available online for purchase (domestic and internationally)

Wow! That's huge!! I wish I could skate :D

Great mixing and songs..playing, everything!

The most important thing in the genre is, imo, attitude..and the songs have a LOT attitude! Splendid work.

Like I said, it's not really emo. Just 15 year old girl music. But that's not a bad thing, there's a huge market for it. You could concievably land a contract.

Wow... extremely polished and tight... I love it! :fing2: I could definitely hear the radio eating this stuff up. I'm glad to hear you had the opportunity to get a full band interested enough in the music to take it all the way through the recording process (my old band I wasn't lucky enough with).

It sounds great and I'll definitely pick up an album when it comes out. I can hear the 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, early Green Day-ish stuff on it, very cool.
