Hi and welcome to the forum. You'll get a lot of good advice here. Ok, if you find the BB's thin, then I suggest going for a set of Alnico II pros based on the stuff you've said you're into. Low output, perfect for the stuff you've indicated, and a lot mellower than the BB's...

However, even with the pup upgrade, I dont think the AVT50 still get you the tone I think you're after. You'll have to, at some stage, look at upgrading to a DSL, JCM800 or JMP...

Hope that helps. I'm sure others will come along with their opinions and welcomes as well...

thanks for the welcome, this looks like a very informative forum,no matter which SD pup i put in I would like a set of zebra's but all I can find is black, any suggestions where I would be able to find some zebra's

sounds like you want something in paf territory from those bands. id say an aph neck and 59 bridge would be a good choice, nice warm smooth neck tones with brighter punchier bridge tones good for lots of styles, lower output. a 59n/c5 would be a step up in output and a bigger bottom in the bridge and would still cover many styles.
there are lots of things thatll work, have you checked out the sound samples yet?
give em a listen and see what sounds good to you

welcome to the forum!

A DD/DD or DD/59 for Metal, a JB/Jazz or Custom/59 for older rock stuff.

Well, here's what I've got. First, the amp is a Crate Blue Voodoo 60 going through a 4-12 (Eminence Legends--sounds like vintage 30's) and 2-12 cab(vintage 30, G12H30). I've got an Epiphone Les Paul with a 59 in the bridge and it distorts well and is VERY clean and articulate. I also have a 72 Gibson LP Deluxe with a JB in the bridge and that is still articulate but crunches harder and meaner. I've been advised the best combo(I'm going to have the guitar modded to do this) is a jazz neck and a split JB bridge with a push/pull tone pot for single coil use.

Got a set of Antiquities I'm putting in a 1975 Black Beauty Custom. I'll let everyone know the results of course. :smoker:
