PUPS for an Explorer?

I want to go with something different this time(Passive), I have a JB/Jazz RG, and BO EC-1000. The Explorer currently has a JB/Jazz Nickel set in it, but the seller would like to keep them if possible. I attempt to play Classic to Heavy Rock/Metal(heaviest being BFMV,Stone Sour, and similar) But mainly I like the typical AC/DC, Ozzy, and that list. Then your modern stuff, WolfMother, Airbourne, Alterbridge, and similar. I have listed some combo's I have researched and get reccomended alot, and I have a good tube amp.
-Gibson 57 Classic/Plus
-SD Custom/59
-GFS VEH's
-DMZ Crunchlab/Liquifire

Re: PUPS for an Explorer?

I suggest a PAF-like neck HB with an alnico magnet and a hotter bridge/treble PU.

(Covered) Pearly Gates/(open) JB
Antiquity neck/Custom bridge
Gibson Classic '57 neck/Tony Iommi bridge

Re: PUPS for an Explorer?

I reckon you should use one of the guitars for a more vintage sound.

A paf set, maybe PGs, in the explorer would be pretty cool for ACDC and airbourne type stuff.

I was thinking that as well, I am kinda leaning towards a 57 set or something similar.

Re: PUPS for an Explorer?

I run a Custom8/59b combo in my Explorer. It covers alot of ground and does the heavys very nicely..

Re: PUPS for an Explorer?

you gotta 80's guitar in the RG and a modern guitar in the EC...the X came out in 58...i think you need PAF's.

Antiquities, Seths, 57 Classics, or 59's, in that order.
