Push Pull Interpretation

I'm having some trouble making heads or tails of what is up, down, left, or right in this diagram:

My question is what direction are we viewing the push-pull pots from here? From the bottom? From the top? I have 2 DiMarzio push pulls that look like this:

Re: Push Pull Interpretation

The part of the switch closest to the pot is the "up" position. Having said that, you can make whichever mode you prefer be the normal, or down position.

Cool thanks Artie. Next question, if I wired up my two humbuckers exactly as this diagram says, what would this enable me to do specifically? The schematic doesn't say whether this wiring is for coil split/series-parallel/phase/etc.

Thanks!

Re: Push Pull Interpretation

It looks like Humbucker/single coil

When the two pups are switched on they are in paralell.

Re: Push Pull Interpretation

Just to clarify:

Looking at that diagram, you are looking at the bottom of the pots...the shaft is pointing away from you;
When the vol pot is "up", it splits the neck pup;
When the tone pot is "up", it splits the bridge pup;
When the selector switch is in the middle position (both pups on) the two pups are parallel to each other.

Looking at that diagram, you are looking at the bottom of the pots...the shaft is pointing away from you;

When the tone pot is "up", it splits the bridge pup;
When the selector switch is in the middle position (both pups on) the two pups are parallel to each other.

So...volume push pull up splits neck, tone push pull up splits bridge, and having both push pulls "up" with the 3 way switch in the middle position makes one coil from each pup run in parallel with the other.

So I'm assuming that with both push pulls "down" you just have two series humbuckers then? And with only 1 of either pulled up and the 3 way in the middle, you would get a series humbucker plus one of the single coils together right?
