push/pull options

I'm doing a project right now where I bought a TB-4 and a Sh-1, I bought a push/pull volume pot cause i wanted to coil tap on bot pickups, however The sh-1 I bought is the single conductor type, so tapping is out there, I dont want to bother coil tapping just the bridge pickup. So the main question is there anything interesting I can do with a push/pull volume pot with out coil tapping the pickups?

Re: push/pull options

I found tapping my JB bridge pickup gave good results, but OK...

You could series/parallel the bridge pickup. A parallel configuration approaches the tapped sound without losing the hum rejection. But you lose some output level, tho'.

Or you could reverse the phase of one pickup. Adjust the pup heights to get maximum interesting tone. You lose even more output level with this configuration, but the gain in tonal variation available to you is worth it.

Re: push/pull options

A couple other simple things to do:

Switch between two tone caps.

Use it as a "mute" switch. A push-pull doesn't really lend itself to being a "kill" switch, but as a temporary mute, it works great. Like when the phone rings. :D
