Push/Pull Pot Too Stiff???

I just installed another push/pull on my guitar. It is extremely stiff...almost take a fingernail off trying to pull it to split the pickup. I installed these on two others the past month and no problem. Any advice???

Re: Push/Pull Pot Too Stiff???

Not sure how to fix it, spraying lubricants in there might mess with the electronics unless someone else can safely say otherwise. You might have to get better pots.

Re: Push/Pull Pot Too Stiff???

1) White Lithium Grease

2) It's better than the alternative, I have a push pull that splits and unsplits without consenting me first!

Re: Push/Pull Pot Too Stiff???

switch to a push/push pot? those are a lot easier to use....

where can you purchase this?

i assume that this works like stomp-box switches where in order to turn on/off the effect (or maybe change channels) is to just push-push it?

Re: Push/Pull Pot Too Stiff???

There are a couple online vendors that carry the push/push. Warmoth is one of them. Personally, I think most push/push are junk. The ones I've had have all had the plastic spring retainer break over time.

Don't know what to tell you about the stiff push/pull. White lithium grease should work if you can tell where the switch is binding and lubricate it.

yes, thats the way they work..they are getting pretty common so most guitar electronics places stock em.

Re: Push/Pull Pot Too Stiff???

I loosened the pot screw and now it's fine??? Oh well, I think I will still lubricate it. thanks for the help!
