Push-pull pots

Are there different brands of push-pull pots or are the ones from different sources from the same manufacturer.....if different are any better or worse in your opinion (am considering doing the Jimmy Page mod on an Epi Les Paul).

Re: Push-pull pots

Oh and to answer your question just go to www.guitarfetish.com and buy their "alpha-quality" ones. I don't know if CTS even makes them cuz I've never been able to find them. If anyone knows where to get a CTS push/pull I'll buy 4 of them.

Re: Push-pull pots

To the best of my knowledge, DiMarzio Push/Pulls are not made by CTS. As a matter of fact, they have an uncanny resemblance to the Alpha pots I stock.

Re: Push-pull pots

Sorry for the confusion. DiMarzio "pots" are made by CTS. DiMarzio push-pulls I'm not sure of. I've never had any of those. If Matt says there Alpha, they probably are.

Re: Push-pull pots

martin6stringcustoms... I added you to my Ebay favorite sellers. We'll be doing some business soon.

Re: Push-pull pots

Whatever StewMac stocks has worked great for me. I do not know who makes them.

The push/push that Warmoth sells are junk. Push/push is great in theory, as they were easier to switch that push/pull, but that ease of operation flies out the window when (not if) the plastic spring catch on the push/push breaks.

Re: Push-pull pots

This may belong on a different thread, but here goes (BTW, thanks for all the feedback on this thread). I also remember seeing on a post somewhere that not all of the Jimmy Page 4 push-pull pot schematics out on the 'net were accurate. Is the one on this site as well as the one on the Guitarelectronics site correct? I tend to go brain dead trying to trace this stuff, but I can build to a schematic/sketch that's accurate. Thanks again.

Re: Push-pull pots

It's as accurate as you need it to be to make it work. I wouldn't know if it's EXACTLY like what Page did, but it's what his guitar can do!!

Re: Push-pull pots

Thanks.....main concern is that the schematic accurately reflectes the desired outcome (single to humbucking on the volume pots and series-to-parallel/phase-reversal on the tone pots. Like I said, I can follow a schematic but if something's missing or wrong I could end up in the Twilight Zone.

Re: Push-pull pots

Took the round plate off the back of my Epi Paul today to see if I needed the long or short style toggle and was surprised to see an electronic switch instead of the Switchcraft-style mechanical one. Will undoubtabley replace it..........just hate the enclosed crap!

What's wrong with the electronic dpdt switches?

Re: Push-pull pots

Guess I'm just old school.....I like stuff I can get into to adjust and clean. One of my biggest gripes is newer amps with the soldered-in sealed PC board input jacks.
