Push/Push +10 boost work on any pickup?

I have recently purchased a 2013 Gibson Traditional Pro for a pretty decent deal. However, it has these Push/Push knobs on it. Two is for coil splitting and the other is for +10 Boost. Can I use any pickup for the +10 Boost, like say the 59' Hybrid? I believe the 59' Hybrid does have 5 wires. Or will the somehow melt the coils with the 9V battery? Not sure how that all works?
Standard the guitar Super 57 and a 57 classic pickups.
