Put some Ants in my '91 LP Classic

Picked up a pair of Antiquity HBs on Ebay this week (8.47k bridge, 7.5k neck) and put them in my '91 Classic. I've had '57 Classics, '59s and A2Ps in that guitar. All were fine in their own way, but didn't inspire me as much as the Seths in my '96 Standard. It was only a matter of time before some Ants got in there.

First impressions? I love em! Obviously similar to the Seths, but different too in ways I haven't yet had time to evaluate. Seem a little fatter sounding, but still have that clarity and articulation. Perfect for 60s/70s rock and blues.

Will no doubt rave about them some more when I've played them for a while.

Just wanted to share some of the joy that is a new set of Duncans in a Les Paul! :dance:

Oh yeah, they look cool too. :D

Rock on Simon. I'm throwing Seths in my R7 this weekend after Theodie cuts me a new bone nut and levels the frets. If that doesn't do it, Ant's are going in. Please let me know how it works out for you...I'm extrememly interested....especially under some gain, since we play similar amps and music.

Congrats on the Antiquity's. I bought a set about a month ago for my LP Classic, and I love them. They truly brings out something extra from my guitar. More open and clear, and at the same time very good for that classic drive.

Actually, I am looking forward to further reviews Simon. Very cool bro. I am getting that "need new pickups" itch myself :scratchch

Ok....I've just spent some time playing Brisk's Gibby V with Ants thru Theodie's Marshall half stack....verdict?

These pups rock. Nice, warm, articulate, no squeel....they are the real deal. Smooth but with just the right amount of bite. You're going to love them Simon....turn that Jubilee up and let er' rip!

Great news Simon!
I have a set in my '01 Honeyburst Std. & I love 'em. I liked them well enough at first but the more I played 'em the more it was apparent that they are absolutely awesome pups. Very versatile, great cleans that are well balanced and vocal, & with distortion it seems all the right harmonics jump out at you. Jeff, you need to get a set buddy. Shall I PM Lew for ya'? :32:

Hi jimo. Too early to say. I have been playing Seths for a couple of years now. Only just got the Ants. They are quite similar, which is what I expected. The Ants seem a bit warmer. More midrange perhaps. I'll post a comparison when I've had the opportunity to play both with the band.

Hey alright!---Thanks-Well since I posted I bought a used Seth for the neck---I am replacing the LP's 490/498's. So I guess I could go with a Seth or Antiquity for the bridge. Did you already have 500k pots or did you have the 300ks?---cheers!---JIMO :dance:

I bought my '96 Standard new, and it had 300k volumes and 500k tones as stock. I replaced them all with 500k CTS audio taper. I bought my '91 Classic used and I think it already has 500k audios in - haven't measured them but they certainly work like audio taper. I am thinking about getting an RS kit for that guitar.

Well this sounds good to me, as I have a set of Ant's on order for my '99 LP Classic. I have a set of Seths in my ES-137 Classic, which I love, and I've heard Ant's in a LP, so I figured things would work out, but your posts are even more encouraging. Can't wait!

If I ever meet someone besides the Maiden boys and Pete Townshend that puts DiMarzios in a Les Paul, I will personally kill them. Seymour Duncan makes the Les Paul infinitely times better.

So far I can't choose between them. :smack: I am loving them both! The Antiquities, particularly the bridge model, seem a little fuller and fatter, but that could be down to the differences in the guitars. You won't go wrong with either for classic blues/rock LP tone, and both are a huge improvement on 490R/498T. If you like the aged look and you don't mind the price go for the Ants. But Seths won't disappoint either! :)

After several tests , I came to this combo on my PRS ME : Seth bridge and Ant neck !

The Seth is slightly punchier in the bridge and the Ant has a more opened , acoustic tone in the neck, better defined than the Seth
