Re: Put some Ants in my '91 LP Classic
Like Caveman, I've got the Seth bridge and Ant neck in my 02 LP Classic. I am unable to compare complete sets, but here is my take on these pickups.
The Ant has a "hollow" quality that is hard to describe. You know how you put heavy strings on a Strat and dig in hard to get that "click" of the pick attack on the strings? Then the sound has a brief swell followed by a smooth sustain? Like it blossoms? This sound comes effortlessly in the Ant. It really is an awesome pickup. I never played so much on the neck of my LP before. Balance, warmth, articulation. It's a smooth pickup that added some soul to the guitar.
The Seth is a great pickup. Clear and balanced across the strings, having a prounouced "old school" treble tone. Not too hot, not to mellow, to me it's the definitive classic rock pickup.
Both pickups produce very accurate representation of the acoustic qualities inherent in the LP.
