Putting Nickel Covers on my VPAF's

I love the sound from my VPAF's but don't care for the uncovered look. If I cover them with some nickel HB covers, will I hear a difference in sound?

Thx.

They take off just a bit of treble, not much, but they also shield better & reduce a little more noise. I put covers on all my PU's, if they don't come with them.

The reason most aftermarket PU's don't have covers is that they add to the already high cost; it has nothing to do with tone. Like you, I just don't like the open coil look, looks cheap to me.

Cover them PU's!

Varies depending on the composition of the covers, but in a nutshell, blueman is right. They all take away a little bit of presence/sizzle, some more than others.

Exactly the reason I prefer my pickups without a cover, for the added presence and I prefer the look as well.

But I've never maxed out the treble & presence in my amps; I always have plenty of that left over, so I never saw the need to squeeze more treble out of a bridge PU. Good Lord, usually I'm doing everything I can to warm a bridge.

Thanks for all the good advice everyone. Anyone know of a good web outlet for brushed nickel pu covers? and are the B&N covers the same (spacing, etc). They are going in a LP.

Thx again!

This may seem like blasphemy... but can you paint a cover? LOL... my explorer is black and I don't know if gold covers would look 'right' hehehe.
