Quest for a New Amplifier

Re: Quest for a New Amplifier

Peavey Classic 30

or the 20 watt mini head version
again it switches down to one watt or less , I don't remember

the gigging amps that switch down to bedroom levels are really where its at

Hot Rod Deluxe isn't a Bassbreaker... Hot Rods are the 90s basic standard amp. They're rad, i like them, and for gigs and jams they're loud enough and sound good, but they're not similar to Bassbreakers besides being made by Fender in Mexico.

Re: Quest for a New Amplifier

The first great Marshall sound I ever got was my SL2HT into one of the old blue Valvetronix 2x12 combos.

Some may question why I'd suggest a Valvetronix for doom/stoner/sludge, and it's because it has pedal models built in, including Fuzz. You can dial in your favorite amp and pedal combo to get the exact tone you want.

And they came with oversized 4x12 cabs that look and sound imposing and awesome. If i had a mansion to collect all of my dream rigs, that halfstack would be somewhere in there. A local craigslist ad had 2 of them in mint condition with foot controllers and i almost pulled the trigger every day for months...
