Question about Fender bass/guitar body sizes

Is the Musicmaster/Bonco/Mustang bass body the same size as the Duosonic/Musicmaster/Mustang/Cyclone guitar body?

I mean, the bases are all short scale instruments, not that far off from a guitar but the guitar versions are usually smaller scaled instruments themselves...

Anyone have access to one of the basses and can tell me a couple of dimensions?

My thinking is this: Why buy a Squier Bronco and get rid of most of it keeping only the body when that is exactly the most important part and it won't be anything to write home about?

Why not trace over my Cyclone (and if need be enlarge it by x % to make everything fit) and make a replica?

Short answer - yes. Obviously, the neck pockets take up more of the body on the bass models and the bridge is set nearer to the edge of the body.

All of the models that you have named (except the Cyclone) were originally marketed by Fender as student models. The guitars are generally of 24" scale and the basses of 30".

Tracing a Fender Cyclone guitar body will give you the correct outline for a Bronco/Musicmaster/Mustang style bass guitar body blank. You will still need to determine the neck pocket dimensions and pitch angle (if desired).

Since this would be a one off instrument I wouldn't really care about accuracy inside the basic outlines, meaning, as long as it can fit a mustang case,etc. I don't care about what liberties I take with the neck pocket.

I'm mulling all of this over.

A couple months back I was dead set on a tele bass, not even realizing my favorite shape existed as a bass as well. I'm going to really think this one through and see if my mind is really set. I also have to factor in that I could have a playable companion to my Cyclone for about 200 if I went with Squier. OTOH I could have something really cool and made by me for about the same money I would end up paying after all of the upgrades. Only problem being I never built an instrument before and I'm notoriously dilletant in this matter...
