Question about magnets and polarity and stuff

Hello there.

Stop me if you've heard this one before. I asked this question elsewhere, 90 views 0 replies.

I have a guitar on which the pickups are out of phase if I connect the shields to ground and the hot wires to where they're supposed to go.

Now, if I open up one of the pickups (standard normal humbucker) and flip the magnet around side for side (as opposed to end for end), it'll flip the polarity and be in phase with the other pickup, right?

Yes, if humbuckers are out of phase with each other you can flip the leads on 1 of the pickups or the magnet on 1 of the pickups. Either will work.

Bit not both. Do one or the other. Just connecting the wires back to front is usually the easiest, but remember the bare shield wire always goes to ground.
