Question about Marshall JTM 45

I picked up a Marshall JTM 45 RI and I`m a little confused(dumb) about the the four inputs on the front face and two volume knobs. You`ve got the two top inputs and two bottom inputs , are they hi/lo or bright/normal type inputs and if so which is which. Then there is Volume 1 High Treble and Volume 2 Normal , how does the High Treble Volume affect tone?
heres a pic if it helps,

THANKS!!!

Re: Question about Marshall JTM 45

The inputs on the left (1) are the Hi and Low inputs for the high treble channel. WHile the inputs on the right (2) are the Hi and Low inputs for the Normal channel.

If you use a small patch lead between the bottom input of 1 into the top input of 2, I believe you can then use both volume controls to 'blend' the channels together.

I may be wrong in this, but I'm sure someone with more knowledge of this amp will post soon :)

Re: Question about Marshall JTM 45

Older British amps were designed from the start to be what they called "Lead and bass", that ment that there were 2 channels one voice real bright and the other voiced very dark/fat...what you have is a high and a low gain input for both the bright and the fat channel...Brow is right, what you do is plug into the high gain input on the bright channel, run a patch cord from the low gain on the bright channel to the high gain input on the fat channel, and then use both volume controls to get a nice tone...that said you do not have to. Jeff Beck used the high gain imput on the bright channel alone almost all the time as did Steve Stevens as well as Billy Gibbons time...anyway that is the deal...just try things and see how yo like it, that is a killer amp!
