Question about pup booster...

I LOVE a Strat sound... But I also wouldn't mind thickening it up some without making it sound...UNstrat. If you see what I mean. Would the Pickup booster do this with the bucker emulation, while all 5 positions would be stratty?

Re: Question about pup booster...

IMHO . . . the resonance switch makes a single sound like a humbucker about as much as splitting a humbucker makes it sound like a single. Its in the ballpark, and its good, but its not quite "there". ;)

Re: Question about pup booster...

But it will do what you asked, thicken it up. I really liked what it did to my Surfers. It was like switching guitars with the press of a button. Even at the lowest setting it gives you a vol boost , so you could be playing your vintage toned strat and go to a louder fatter axe instantly.

Re: Question about pup booster...

I think from your description of what you're after, you would be very pleased with what the Pickup Booster does. My only complaint about it would be that the boost starts at 6 db, which rules out the option of changing the resonance at unity gain. But it is a very effective way of fattening and boosting single coils for solos or alternative rhythm sounds.

Cheers.................wahwah

Re: Question about pup booster...

It makes it thicker, but it isn't a "right on the money"..nor could it ever be I imagine. The thing about the pup booster is that you get more of the same, and that's nice.
