question about screws...

I am planing to build my own pickup winder so I bought Jason Lollar's book. But a very stupid difficulty came when I finded out that the screw system it is different in the States than in Spain.

Can anyone tell my what a #8 or #6-32 screws are? What does it reffer to?

#8 and #6 refer to the diameter of the screw, but I couldn't tell you, off the top of my head, the exact diameter. Pickguard screws are close to a #6. Pickup mounting screws ares lightly smaller than a #4.

The "32" refers to 32 threads per inch. Its the thread size.

So a 10-24 would be a fairly large screw, with 24 threads per inch. Fairly coarse. Rack mount screws are 10-32, to put that into perspective.
