Question - Dean pickups, circa 2007

Prayin' to Cheeses
Hey everyone,

Recently picked up a used Dean Z, 2007 or so - made in Korea. Nice guitar. Fishing around on the internet I found a catalog entry that just says it has "Dean Pickups" in it, which is not very useful. Does anyone know any specs on these? I assume they were probably made overseas like the guitar.

Pretty sure the model I have is a Dean Z X - I haven't verified it's all original but I imagine it probably is.

Maybe BTMN might know this. We have a few Dean experts here.

Not an expert - but I highly suspect that they are Generic Korean pups. If that is a set neck you have a Dean Select Korean import. Helluva a guitar for the price.

More import question: How does it sound?

It sounds really good. It has a little more crunch, maybe slightly brighter and cleaner sounding than my old SGs. It is a really nice guitar, I got a good deal on it and I always wanted a Dean Z. It does have a set neck too, so probably is the model you said.

I don't think I will swap any pickups in it - they sound pretty good to me, I was mostly just curious to know what the specs were on em.
