What distortion pedals do you guys think sound nice and strong for that beefy 7 string type baritone sound in low tuned hard rock? (not death metal)

TBH I find almost all pedals to be inadequate (though I generally steer clear of stompboxes anyway). For the most part they don´t seem to be able to process an a tuned b string without losing the fundamental and with it most of the balls.

But when use the same V-Twin + JCM 800 rig I´ve been using for everything and "way too long", the balls are definitely there, and they`re obviously made of brass. :)

FWIW

You'll want an overdrive to tighten things up first. Then just about any amp will do.

An MXR Classic Overdrive, Swollen Pickle Fuzz, and a Monster Effects Mastortion. I use the overdrive on the dirty channel of my amp, the fuzz on the clean channel, and the MAstortion on the third channel that I have set semi dirty.
