question for all you tech dudes might ask it before

i have a carvin br616 bass amp it is rated at 600 watts at 2ohms but by itself it rated at 400 watts with the 4ohm 15in speaker it came with,anyway that speaker suck bad so i had an old 15in fane laying around i got from a bass player from my church years ago. and its a high dollar speaker according to the bass players around austin but its rated at 8ohms i was told it would not hurt to use it but i would lose about 3dbs is this true. about how much wattage am i running now. thanks again for the help, and i can keep the sound man of my back.:banghead:

If it's 600 at 2ohms and 400 at 4ohms... probably be running about 200-225 at 8ohms. Nothing will blow up (in theory) but you'll lose a good bit of juice & probably some headroom.
