Question for anybody that works(ed) at Guitar Center

Just Ultimate Slacker
I saw a vox wah today that is "used" for $69.95
How set are they on that price ? Does anybody know if they are flexible on the used prices ?

Can't hurt to ask them. All they can say to an offer is "yes" or "no."

Re: Question for anybody that works(ed) at Guitar Center

they can be flexible somewhat. Problem is that they know somebody will probably buy it for what they want. If it's been sitting a while then they may be more motivated to move it....
GC is usually good for strings, pics, and cheap Xmas gifts, and trying out stuff. I then go out and find it used....

I had a fair amount of success talking them down on the price of my '61 LP/SG a few years ago, but that was also because I new the sale guy from previous transactions. It's worth a try. Show them cash:smokin:

Cash talks, Bull**** walks. Plain and simple. Make a reasonable offer, and I mean reasonable, not a "$30.00 out the door" offer. Maybe 20-25% off the stickered price.

Have a good raport with one or two of the salesmen too. That helps a lot.

Re: Question for anybody that works(ed) at Guitar Center

my advice for anyone shopping at gc is find the guy that knows his stuff and isnt a jerk. there is probably only one that has both qualitys, sometimes there isnt even one. if hes a manager even better since they can make their own decisions and have the screens to see what stuff costs without alot of hoopla.
make him your guy, always go to him even if its dumb stuff, it adds up.

at gc general policy is that they try to buy used gear at half what they are going to sell it for, so if it was bought right, they would have put $35 in the $70 pedal. there is administrative costs added in so their cost is probably $45-ish to be safe, again this is all if its bought "right". i would try and get it out the door for $60 (including tax), you wont do much better than that. the worst he can say is no, which is fine. there is usually a minimum price built into the computer that can be overridden but needs manager approval to do so. if the guy isnt a manager he really might not be able to it, which is why its always good to make your guy a manager of some kind.

if they are buying it for much less than half what they are selling it for, they are crooks and you shouldnt support their business
