Hi am new here:wave: and i have a question. I am going to put some new pickups in my Epi, and I really want a classic sound so I was thinking if the antoquity PAF's was any good for a nice sound. I am not really any expert on Pickups but i can tell that the crapy sound coming out of my guitar now is some peice of ****. I am playing much Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck and Guns N' Roses.

Re: question from new guy.

Antiquities are great...smooth, sweet....basically an Aged "Seth"

59's are my personal fave of the Duncan "vintage spec" pups as they are bit crunchier and tighter, but you really can't go wrong with any of the Duncan "PAF" styles.

Re: question from new guy.

okey, so i think I am goung for a "59" or Seth lover 55. But should I have two(one in brigde and one in neck) or should I have antother pickup, so I forexample get the 55 in the neck and something else in the brigde?

Re: question from new guy.

As for classic PAF type pups, the Antiquity's, Seths, Pearly Gates and 59 are all PAF clkones and good ones at that. Ants and Seths are more mellow, PG's are a little more lively/rude sounding. You can't go wrong with a set of 59's...best al around Bucker Duncan makes. The Alnico II Pro is a moderen/vintage kind of bucker...lots like a Seth but very smooth and sweet sounding with a beautiful sounding sweet high end. As for using a different bridge...I prefer matched sets but I do have some hotter bridge pickups...the Custom, Custom 5 and the Custom Custom are all good "Hot PAF" type pickups that woudl work well with some of the neck pickups mentioned above. I have a guitar with an Alnico II Pro in the neck and a Custom Custom in the bridge...killer set up. My favorite is still a set of Pearly Gates...truth is, you can't go wrong with any of these!
