Question in regards to cheap-o floyds

When i look up different O.G floyds in the bay, often times there are full sets from china for like 19.99 in the section just under the actual items one is looking for, i know it's trash, but is that what they use on say, 200-whatever dollar guitars that are completely unbranded and just say "licensed under blah blah blah" just along the fine tuners? makes me think they make em out of coke cans.

Yes, those are the same as the cheap units you see on many low-end guitars. Completely made of cast zinc in most cases (baseplate, saddles, block, sometimes even the screws!) with terrible tolerances and cheap knife edge inserts.

You'll find some metal baseplate TRS-style trems, but most of those are junk, as well. The saddles are cheap, the block is garbage and the knife edges aren't treated well enough to last.

The only "budget" Floyd worth buying is the Floyd Rose "Special". Decent baseplates and not a bad trem if you replace the block with a brass one (saddles are still zinc, though).

A classic case of "you get what you pay for."
