Question on Chicago Iron Parachute Wah

Hey everyone, my wah pedal has been on the fritz for awhile, and I've been thinking about opening it up and checking out what might be the matter with it. That said, while online, I found the Chicago Iron DIY Parapedal kit, which is a drop-in circuit board that fits in Dunlop and Vox style wahs. The circuit is a replica of the Tycobrahe wah of the 70s, still used by Tony Iommi (among others who I'm not sure of). My question was simply, what is the general consensus on the quality of Chicago Iron's products, and if anyone has used the Parachute wah or a wah with the Parapedal kit installed, what did you think of it? Thanks!

Re: Question on Chicago Iron Parachute Wah

I don't have any answers for you but Tony's WAH sounds killer!......I've been somewhat interested in it since buying the live Heaven and Hell DVD...........

Re: Question on Chicago Iron Parachute Wah

Here's an original: OUCH!

Yeah, the originals are going for ridiculous amounts of money, as are all the Tycobrahe products. Don't look up the Tycobrahe Paraflange pedal. If you thought the Wah was a lot....

And yeah, Tony's wah sound is awesome! It's got such a huge sweep to it, and its almost synthy sounding at times. A bit phasey too. If this Chicago Iron wah kit makes my Vox sound like that, well, I'd sure be one happy camper! And definetly buy the DVD, its absolutely awesome. They're coming back around on tour again, and if you get the chance, I highly recommend seeing them. They are playing here in August with Judas Priest and Motorhead, which is one show I don't think I could say no to!

I believe it is the chicago iron house on it.

Yeah, thats the sound right there! If thats the Chicago Iron wah then I'm sold! The DIY-kit is about 150 dollars, and would be worth it, in my opinion if it got my wah sounding like that. Cheaper than buying a new wah outright, especially if I were to go for something like a Teese or something (though I can still see one of those in the future).

Re: Question on Chicago Iron Parachute Wah

keep me posted if you buy one. I love the Dunlop I modified a few years ago , but still want something "more"............

Thanks brit84! I'm pretty much set on doing this upgrade for my wah, as soon as I put the funds together I'll be ordering the DIY kit to drop-in. Once that happens, I'll make sure to post my findings on here for all those interested. Should be an exciting investment!

After that get Analog Man's B-boost and a Laney Super Group 120 watt and you are set, my friend. :18:
