Question on Distortions

Hello again,

I have gone ahead and purchased a set of Distortions for my Ibanez RGR421EXFM. I am curious as I look around sites that sell the Distortions that some are TB-6 and SH-6B for the bridge. Are these the same pickup, or is one F-Spaced and the other not? I spoke with the guy that installed them and says it seems off by a hair with the SH-6B and he's citing a routing issue from the manufacturer. I ordered the SH-6B as it is a tail end and not a tremolo system at all. I have yet to see it, I will be stopping by the shop tonite after work to pick it up. Thoughts....?

TB-series has a bit wider spacing for mainly Fenders and guitars with Floyd Roses or something similar (some TOMs 'need' them, too). It's not gonna kill your tone if you use SH instead of TB, or vice versa. Measure the distance between the strings, and google/forum search some kind of guidelines for the measurements for SH/TB.

Well, just got it back and it seems the high E to about the G it lines up. The D is a bit off and the A and low E are not even close. I had the guy take a F-spaced whatever out of the box to compare and show him, and lo and behold, the F-space lines up golden. All the strings are perfectly in the middle of the poles on the pickup.
After a bit more research I find that regardless of the type of tremolo or tailpiece, when measuring the distance bewteen the high and low E, if there is distance of 2.1" or greater, then a F-spaced will line up the poles with the strings. My strings are exactly 2.1". The diagram of the SH and TB don't give the distance measurements from the end poles and made it a bit of guesswork.
Looks like it would have to be a TB, but even looking at the guitars for sale in the shop, I see where pickups don't even line up evenly on the poles. Everything from high end Deans, Peaveys and Ibanez's to the lower end models. Some did line up, but it was like 50:50. Is it not really a big deal to have them not line up? I have left it at the shop as I am kinda picky about this...again...thoughts?
