Question on Pearly gates

I just purchased a pearly gates trembucker (white ) .It had to be a special order at GC since trembuckers are not carried by ever store.I haven't opened the box yet since I had a few doubts. On the backside it says 'this pickup comes with single conductor, shielded, hookup cable...'.I'm actually looking for a pickup that can do coil splits (I guess it needs to have 4 ends ).So can I do a coil split (single/double coil ) with this pup?

Duncan website says that it comes with 4 conductor cable.Something wrong?
What does single conductor mean?

Here's what Duncan website says on the Pearly Gates Trembucker.

If this is not a coil split type pup how is it that the website gives a different info. Will SeymourDuncan exchange it for a 4 counductor type for me if I send it to them? Not sure if Guitar Center will exchange it as it was a special order.

Re: Question on Pearly gates

They should. I bought a '59 and then realized after installing I needed a Trembucker spacing for it. So I called up SD and exchanged..... went from single conductor single spacing '59 to 4-conductor trem spacing '59. Even though theres like a $15 retail price difference, I didnt pay a dime. I'm sure they'll accomodate you somehow

Re: Question on Pearly gates

even if it is single conductor, it'd be easy to switch it over to a 4 conductor by ordering a couple feet of it online(it's usually $0.75/ft), and it only takes a few minutes to replace.

Re: Question on Pearly gates

So does it have a black or silver cable?

These pickups comes in both variants. Pearlies are more common in 4-conductor and I think Trembuckers are also more likely to be 4-conductor. I bet it's just mislabled.

Re: Question on Pearly gates

I haven't open it yet to take a look inside. But the label says it's single conductor.I emailed SD last night & hoping to get a reply.I hope they can fix this issue. The label says its a Pearly Gates trembucker.I can see the top of the pup through the case & its Pearly gates trembucker for sure.
Hope to get a response from SD soon.

That's useless. You'll never find out whether it's a typo on the box or not that way.

Can't be that hard to peek inside and let us the bloody hell know what color the cable is...

It's not SD's problem to be honest, it's all a GC faux-pa. They will have to fix it. It shouldn't be much of a problem anyhow.

Re: Question on Pearly gates

Do you really plan on splitting it? It'll be pretty weak at 4k,not unusable but I'm not sure it going to set your world on fire :)

Re: Question on Pearly gates

PG bridge rocks! But, I wouldn't split it. Open the box, if it's wrong, take it back.

Re: Question on Pearly gates

dude just open it all you'll break is the tape holding the plastic case together its fine lol.

Re: Question on Pearly gates

Not to mention the cable is probably visible from the outside.

I wonder how this guy is every going to get the pickup into his Klampfe if he's that timid.
