How much gain/distortion can it handle before getting muddy and losing the WAH effect? Can you describe it with a band, or music genre? Like Hard Rock, Classic Rock, etc.

which wah? The RMC will get muddy in any instance unless you use single coils...The Picture Wah is the one to get if you want vintage wah tones....

you need to be talking about a spina modded Vox wah...vintage tones, flexability, cost is less that a Teese, and they look cooler!

I just got a picture wah and it is fantastic! I use a Stratocaster into a spitfire fuzz into the picture wah into a boogie MKIIB. It handles all the gain my boogie can throw at it and sounds great before or after the fuzz. It is THE vintage wah sound and can do a great Hendrix or Trower. I am not a metal player so I dont know how it sounds verses the newer players wah tone, but it sure does classic rock very well.
I was considering the RMC3 but I really wanted something simple that would sound great without all the tweeking. That has a tendancy to distract me lol.

The PW was great,but since I mod my own wahs from Vox 847 and 848's(Like Teese started out doing)...I can't spend $245 for a PW..I was dissapointed when I A/Bd my PW after paying this amount for it and I Liked the tone and the looks of my modded 847 better...I have alot more adjustments I can tweak in my own wahs also...The RMC3 is God awful expensive for the average musician also...Thanks God I can do this stuff myself! :smack:
Teese's claim to fame would be the re-invention of making a great pot and inductor incorporated into his wahs,but he was still modding wahs based on the early Clyde wah tones and incorporating his mod ideas and better components into CryBabys and Vox wahs...You used to be able to buy his pots and inductors...I find the Fulltone pot and inductor work great and I voice my own wahs around those components..I do own an RMC Vox 847 that has both the pot and inductor and the Teese RMC1 board that I'll use with my single coil guitars...His work is very tidy and his wahs sound great also...

Thanks for the info! Great to know that it can handle a good amount of gain or distortion. I keep thinking that since it's a vintage toned wah, that it won't be able to get a good hard rock wah tone. Something like Slash's with Guns N' Roses. But then I remember that it does a great Hendrix wah tone, and he used a good amount of gain or fuzz. So I guess it's all good. What would you say is the most distorted songs, or bands music that you play? Just so I can get an idea.

Here's the cool thing with my own wah mods...I Incorporate user adjustments for Q,Gain,Volume,and Mids...These adjustments can either be all internally mounted on the stock circuit board,or alot of guys like to have the Q and Gain adjustments on the outside as adjustable pots....These adjustments allow you to hone your wah into your needs..The Volume adjustment alone is cool because it allows you to get perfect "unity gain"...Unity gain is matching the wah volume to match your incoming signals when your wah is off.
Answering your question about the gain of your wah? You have a "Gain" pot adjustment that you can raise or lower for whatever pickups you use...This could be an externally mounted pot with 11 detents that you could adjust on the fly....Or..We mount the pot(s) on the board and you set them the way you like and forget about them and we don't drill holes on the outside of your wah?[/B]
If you elect to have all adjustments done on the circuit board,you'd then have a complete sleeper wah which would remain stock cosmetically on the outside,but yet you'd have the ability to make several adjustments if you wanted to?
If you get a Vox 847(This is the best platform to mod)and you get one at a good price,I can keep you under $200 and you'd have alot of extra adjustment that the $245 PW doesn't offer you...This would include upgraded pot,inductor,true bypass,power supply and jack,and board tweaks with all upgraded caps and metal film resistors....Several people already are using this wah and you'd be keeping your money within the forums... :laugh2:
Shoot some PMs to Brow,Bluedave,lew,Curly,Midnite Man,Sweet Lou,MRID,etc..Any wah that you buy that gives you this much tweakability is going to cost you close to $300,plus the Vox wahs look very cool with the black and chrome top...My favorite...I'll send you some pictures of Midnite Man's 847 we just did to your PMs.....
I've spent alot of time listening to just about every wah made today,both the Dunlop and the Teese and Fulltone stuff...I know what I like and dislike about the wahs....This also includes the "Buddah" and the Bad Horsie wahs...
