I have a marshall 50 watt '79 jmp master volume head and i was wondering if i brought it to a tech if i could tell him to make a couple changes to make it sound more like a plexi. I mean i like the sound but i like the plexi sound more and i got this head for a lot cheaper than a plexi costs because im on a budget. So i guess the question is what should i ask him to change to make it more like a plexi. Im still not sure if im gonna do this or when but just in case i do i want to know what to ask him.

Re: Question

There are many other amps out there that can sound like plexis(Laney is one of them, its a kick ass amp) If yours cant be moded.there are other amps out there w/ the plexi sound.

Re: Question

Yeah, it would be best to talk to a local tech that specializes in modding Marshalls. If I were you, I'd keep the gain and volume (master volume setup), but get the EQ configured to sound more plexi-like. Forum member, Jeff Seal, would be the ideal guy to discuss this with.
