questions about the full shred neck

I have a Gibson MIII with bolt on neck witch is quite bassy ( tuned in D with 9-46 gauge ), so much that the Duncan Distortion is just right in the bridge ; no piercing hights and enought bass for chuny palm mutes , and mids of course .
The question is for my neck pickup . I tried:
The 59 : too much basses , too scooped , muddy with high gain .
The Jazz : less basses but not powerfull enought , not mean enought with distortion
the screaming demon : enought power but a bit bassy again , it was the closest of my wishes
The Carvin M22 neck : very good for shred with good mids and treebles but not enought basses
So as my needs are good clean , good definition and enought power with gain , i was wondering if the full shred neck would do the job . Has it got enought treebles to be mean and enought basses to rumble , and is it powerfull , how much compared to the others ???
Thanks

Re: questions about the full shred neck

You would probably like the Full Shred in the neck, to me it sounds like a jazz on steroids.

Re: questions about the full shred neck

Have you tried both ?
can your describe a bit longer the differences between those pickup ?
Thanks

Re: questions about the full shred neck

I have actually.. when i got my new guitar a while back i put a jb/jazz combo in it because so many people think its the best, and i loved the JB. The jazz is an ok pickup, but just not my style. I agree with what you said, theres just too much bass and its like playing without all the picking dynamics and such.

I put in a full shred a few months ago, and i am much more satisfied. I dont know if its what you want, cause there isnt alot of bass.. but it has enough for me. Its like taking off a third of the bass from a jazz and adding it to treble and a little to the mid. I dont have a super ear like some people but thats all i can say. if you want i will record a clip with the full shred as long as you tell me what to play and with what kind of tone.

Re: questions about the full shred neck

It is very nice of you if you can record something with the full shred neck , you could do metal riffing and soloing , swipping , everything you like and some clean work .
About the jazz i think it has a lot of definition-pick attack but lack mids and power and still too much bass , if the FS can cure this i may try it .

Re: questions about the full shred neck

the full shred in neck.. hmm i wouldent bother. its quite a bassy pickup also. i think it would sound muddy. i have one on my strat in the bridge pickup and though it has lots of highs it also has too much bass for a neck pickup. i would recommend a Dimarzio Evolution. i have one in my Jem and as much as i love seymour duncan pickups the evolution sounds much better than the lil59 i have in the neck of my strat. its perfect.

Re: questions about the full shred neck

I've got a Full Shred in the neck of a Charvel 750xl (mahogany body, maple set neck, maple top) paired with a Distortion in the bridge. It is an extremely articulate pickup, very good for shred metal leads. I don't find it bassy at all, however. In fact it seems to be a brighter pickup than others I've had in the neck. The only thing that could rival it in the neck for shred would be a Distortion. In fact, I've got another 750xl due to arrive tomorrow and I've already got the dual Distortions set to go in.

Re: questions about the full shred neck

i find that the full shred has a lot of bass and bottom, comparing to my Jb jr equiped strat and the dimarzio evolutions on my jem. maybe its my guitar (mexican strat with ash body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, floyd rose trem). i find that it has a lot of high a lot of bass and also just enough middle.

im not 100% that my guitar is Ash but from what im told its the only thing that can justify the rediculous weight of the thing.

i still say from my experience that an evolution would work perfect (it worked for steve vai), its such a tight pickup thats really warm but it doesnt even have a hint of muddyness

Re: questions about the full shred neck

I did enjoy the clip , could you tell me what kind of wood is your guitar made off ( is your guitar bright , dark or middy ?) and what amp , was dist pedal if it was one ?
Thank again .
