Questions about the Invader

Hi,

I was just wondering about a few things concerning the invader.

How does it compare output wise to the jb and distortion.
How does it sound in basswood, dark, bright?

How is it for dropped tuning?

Thanks,

Dan

Re: Questions about the Invader

Far more output than the JB or DD. It will sound dark and undefined with a bit of a lack of clarity in anything. Its horrible downtuned due to the lack of clarity. It does best in E or Eb tuning, playing mostly rhythm playing, and with metal and usually metal only.

Re: Questions about the Invader

i keep my guitar with the invader in D and it sounds great. i actually used to have it in Db and it sounded good then too. though its a naturally bright guitar (alder body, maple neck, maple fretboard, floating trem, etc.). cant speak for basswood, ive never had an invader in a basswood guitar

I figured that would be true. The tone chart on that pickup is 7/8/4.
It sounded a bit dark and powerful when I heard it, but seems suitable for Metal.

Re: Questions about the Invader

I replaced my tone cap in my basswood Dean ML with a 100 pico farad and it cleaned the mud and "un" clarity right up. It drops some of the bass to ground but all the mids are still there. To me, the tone sounds as clear as Lamb of God's "Ashes of the Wake" CD. It cleaned it up ALOT! The Invader is now my primary pup in me ML as I used to switch back and forth between the Invader and Distortion.
P.S. Downtuning sounds awesome with this mod.
