Questions About Wiring

Hi!

I just purchased Seymour Duncan pickups!

I'd like to hear them, but don't have the other parts yet

1) How do I connect a pickup straight to jack? Which wires do I connect?

2) Can I use the push pull switches without using the 500k pots?

if they're humbuckers:
red/white soldered together and taped off
green/bare to ground, there should be an inner ring on the output jack for that. and black to hot, which is the other lug on the output jack.

for singles...
hook one end into the hot, and the other into the ground.

i'm not sure if you can put more than one pickup on there at the same time.
you can get 250k and 500k pushpulls from either of these two websites:
http://www.stewmac.com <<< they've got metric(import guitar) sized pots
http://www.wymoreguitars.com <<< they've got 3/8" US sized pots.

I am totally new to this, and I don't understand many things... ;P

1) Like, why is there a wire coming from the bridge?

2) What is hot and ground?

3) And do I really need to solder or can I just put the wire against the metal thing meanwhile? Is it still gonna work? I know it's a dumb question...

4) And last thing, what I really meant is; is there a way to bypass the 500k and just use the push pull on the pot to have as much treble as possible?
