Quick P'up Question

What's the difference between A2 and A5 magnets? What are their sonic characteristics?

I'm looking for an HB to put in the bridge of my strat-type Godin. I want something with creamy mids and singing highs (no screechy, thin-ness). Can anyone suggest a p'up for me to try that will fit into those categories? (I might try the CC but I've heard that the mids are TOO overpowering)

Re: Quick P'up Question

Thanks, Curly. I guess I should have looked at a FAQ. I've looked through some of the SD p'ups. Seems from what I described I want an A2 p'up. I'm looking at the Seth Lover or the Alnico Pro II. What's the major difference between them. I'm looking at that chart that compares them ( http://www.basslines.com/website/tonechart.shtml#hum ) and I don't understand those little bar graphs.

Help?

Re: Quick P'up Question

Don't rule out the CC for a Strat type application. The mid boost is a little lower in the frequency spectrum which gives it a warmer tone while still having good cut and a mean sound. Alnico II Pro would also be a good choice if you want something more vintage with less output.
