Quick question

anyone familiar with the 3- conductor prs pups(eg dragon 2/ vintage). I was just wondering how to wire it to a push/pull pot? All other pickups I have wired in this way have 4 conductor wiring. Do I wire just the red to the push/pull and the black and shield to ground or the red and black together (to the push pull) and just the shield to ground by itself?:scratchch

Re: Quick question

I know nothing of those pickups, but I seem to recall seeing them mentioned as having a coil tap (basically instead of shutting off one coil as with a split, a tap is like a bleedoff valve about halfway through, similar to a railroad track switch where the signal is diverted down the shorter track).

If that's the case, you should follow the 4-conductor wiring for series/split, but instead of connecting two wires together, you've got one ground, one full-on hot, and one tapped hot.

Stick those on either side of the push/pull switch (up/down) and run the center to the pot's input.

Re: Quick question

Same as any three-con + shield humbucker.

1 - "Hot"
2 - Series link / coil split
3 - "Reverse"

+ the braided shielding.
