Quick ( stupid ) question

So when I put my Les Paul on neck position and I tap it with a screw driver it works, it's over loud but then I tap the bridge pickup and it comes in, but only a little bit... And vice versa on the bridge position...
Is this right ?
Is it that I don't have strings on my guitar yet ? Thanks a bunch

Re: Quick ( stupid ) question

The Switchcraft three-way toggle selector switch (and good quality imitations) operate by parting a pair of sprung leaf contacts. This process effectively "deselects" whichever pickup you do not require at any given moment. Signal leakage allows the sound of tapping on the deselected pickup to pass.

Re: Quick ( stupid ) question

If you don't own one already, go get a volt/amp/ohm meter. Harbor Freight sells them for $5 and sometimes free with other purchases. Tapping on a pickup to make sure it's working is fine, but putting an ohm meter to the pos and neg of a cable plugged into your guitar will tell you everything.
