Hi guys,
just a quick post, doing this for a young bloke up Byron Bay way....

not finished of course, but its a nice piece of wood...
This is his fretboard, ebony with The Eye of Horus done in jade, MOP and Paua

I'm not a fan of quilted maple until I see something Beautiful like that..

Super nice bookmatch. I've often wondered why certain well known manufacturers can't seem to pull that off.

^ it all depends on how the top is done, and the ability to 'fluke' something that stays similar looking throughout the billet. As soon as you carve a top (unlike this one which is flat), you start to uncover the wood which sat at the extremes of the original wood blank.

I don't know of very many trees that grow in a uniform manner. So any carve top tends only to be a real bookmatch for the small part of the join which is at full blank size.

thats actually very carved, not flat at all, I have taken around 15mm off at points, other points only around 5-10mm, its a bit hard to see in the picture, but all my guitars have a very flowing carve on the tops.

The quilt is nice, but I'm more impressed with the fretting. Looks wonderful so far. . .

That's really coming along. It's going to be some real eye candy. It is already.
