I was either gonna get the aforementioned quilter interblicj 45 as a pedal platform or the new h&k black spirit 200 and was going to order my set of 2x12 speakers and try to build a cab. My question is what pairs well with celestion g12h and or green backs?

My price is under 175 per speaker. I’m only doing a 2x12. 4x12 just too expensive if I drop 800$ for black spirit, it’s mostly for buckethead style playing and sounds. Also does the actual cab makeup and shape matter a lot in regards to sound quality? I see some just rectangular particle board ones cheap and then like ash and other more expensive cabs I don’t care about style. Just sound

Thanks!

I like G12H paired with another G12H :D

They're all around that balanced I haven't any reason to pair them with anything. People seem to like them with V30 though. I didn't, it just made high end raspier and low end tighter. It lost that soft roar I like in them.

Buy used.

$150 - 500, cabs (2x12 usually priced same or HIGHER than 4x12)

$40 - 75, celestion uk speakers

Doesn't really matter whether they're uk or chinese Celestions. Used are already broke in though which is a plus. G12H especially take a lot of time to break in (need to give them 40h at least).

I definitely see a quilter in my future. Maybe not this one, but I desperately need to pair down and they have the best options for the price IMO.

the H&K black spirit streetfighter video is awesome

Don't forget to check out the PowerStage 170, too!

Yeah I’ve thought about it, the inter block is a power amp not pre amp right? By its name power stage sounds like a power amp I’ve never had anything but regular tubes.

Also I have one seventy 80 12 inch. I could pair it with something more expensive like celestion gold. I listed to a classic lead and greenback and creamback. I like all three but I feel if I went with two green backs with that high roloff it would be too much rolloff so if I got a GB it would need like a classic lead 80. Don’t get me wrong I hate highs but still need some.

Also the heritage models are more why is that? Sound is subjective so a diff eq curve isn’t always better.

As for used I’ve always been afraid as fragile as they are they would have some foam damage. I’ve looked on eBay there isn’t much of a discount there.

Also I’m using black winter pups they have too much output so if they don’t sound better with a new cab then that’s another 300$ replacing them

Sorry for all the questions this is the only way I educate myself

I'd like to try 70/80 with G12H. Might work well...

Re: Quilter interblock45 plus g12h and what else?

That cheapo honky piece of junk? Why????

Which one do you refer to as honky? The classic lead 80 has lots of mids and upper mids but to me seems like it would balance well with a greenback style cause it rolls off the high end strongly.

For what it’s worth I was planning on changing pups to 59 custom(or the higher output one 59 custom modern or something like that custom combo? Can’t remember) and sentient

The PowerStage is a power amp with an active EQ- the idea is that if you are using a modeler and you get in a strange-sounding room, you can use the EQ on the PowerStage without menu-diving on your modeler. Set in the middle, it is completely flat, clean power.

Which one do you refer to as honors? The classic lead 80 has lots of kids and upper kids but to me seems like it would balance well with a greenback style cause it rolls off the high end strongly.

G12H is pretty different from G12M. Also 70/80 is entirely different from Classic Lead 80.

Re: Quilter interblock45 plus g12h and what else?

But what exactly is different with the heritage that warrants the usually higher price? Just a different eq curve I’m guessing. I’ve also read good things about Jensen neo jet/tornado. I’d be sold on a celestion gold if price weren’t a hinderance I think a mix of blue/green/creamback

Also I’ve read good things about eminence red coat/patriot/man o war (I do want to thrash so breakup is important). I’ve listened to most all of the clips, problem is it’s so subjective with everything from guitar type to room size having big impacts it’s hard to find a baseline
