R.I.P. Arion SAD-1

My Arion SAD-1 finally passed away. I knew it was going to happen soon when it started acting senile on me, but it still hurts. My friends said "Why don't you just get a new delay?" I didn't think I was ready to just up and replace my long-time companion, but now I think I do really need it.

I played around with an MXR Carbon Copy, which played out similar to my SAD-1, but on crack. I liked it a lot.

Then I tried the Line 6 Echo Park, which I liked because of its sweeps and ability to just be an all out oscillation monster, but it sounded a bit too phony, obviously digital (even on the analog and tape settings) and I heard that they aren't very reliable.

Are there any others that I should try out? I saw a GuitarWorld demo a while back that had a pedal where there was a switch that slows down the delay time and then when you hit it again or let go (I forget which), it sends it all back in a surge and builds up to normal again. Perhaps that was a bad explanation, but I'm curious and want to play with it.

In any case, SAD-1, we had a good run. You will be greatly missed.

I would totally buy that arion pedal if I saw one on the bay. sorry for your loss bro. An under-rated gem. Glad it had a loving home.

It really was my favorite pedal. It started acting funky at a live show and just went absolutely insane on me, which actually sounded awesome at the time. Then after I took it home, it just stopped working.

I wish I could find another one for cheap to put in a better housing. They show up on eBay, but cost more than I think it should. I mean, it's good, but the Carbon Copy also uses a BBD circuit and is a better housing and has a bit more to it.
